5 steps this morning, 5 tonight. We count morning and evening separately — never a ten-step day split in two. Anything beyond these steps, like a weekly mask, is optional extra care, not part of your routine.

How long is this?
Five questions build your routine. Everything after them is optional and easy to skip — those extras only refine texture, climate and anything you want left out.
Why are the extra questions there?
They let me fine-tune the picks rather than hand you a generic list. Skipping any of them costs you nothing — your routine is still complete.
No 10-step overload — five steps or fewer per routine, morning and evening counted separately. What does that mean?
Five steps or fewer in the morning, five or fewer at night, counted separately — never ten across the day. Cleanse, treat, moisturize and protect are never trimmed; the optional layers come off first.

Why it works

The evidence behind your actives

What each active in your routine does, the strengths with a real track record, how long it usually takes, and what to watch for while your skin adjusts.

SunscreenThe single most evidence-backed step in any routine: it prevents the pigment and collagen damage every other product is trying to correct.
Strengths that hold up
SPF 30 minimum, SPF 50 if you are treating pigmentation, applied as the last morning step.
How long it takes
Protective from the first application; visible benefit is what you do not develop over the years.
Safety notes
Reapply if you are outside for long stretches. Mineral filters suit reactive skin; modern fluid filters avoid a white cast on deeper tones.
Vitamin CAn antioxidant that limits daily free-radical damage and gradually evens out tone and dark marks.
Strengths that hold up
L-ascorbic acid around 10 to 20 percent is the most researched form; gentler derivatives such as ascorbyl glucoside suit reactive skin.
How long it takes
Brightness in four to eight weeks; pigment fading is slower, closer to three months.
Safety notes
Can sting on freshly exfoliated or broken skin. Use in the morning under sunscreen. Buy small bottles — it oxidizes and turns dark orange, at which point it is past its best.
NiacinamideSupports the skin barrier, moderates oil production and softens redness and uneven tone.
Strengths that hold up
2 to 5 percent does the work; very high percentages mainly add flushing risk.
How long it takes
Barrier comfort within two to four weeks; tone changes over two to three months.
Safety notes
One of the best-tolerated actives there is. Reduce the strength if you notice flushing.

This is educational information, not medical advice. Patch test anything new on a small area first, introduce one active at a time, and see a dermatologist for skin that is painful, persistent or getting worse.
